Inquiry Cycle Galore!

The Inquiry Cycle is the driving force of PYP.

Here is the cycle set up before any work has been adding to the different sections.

The action cycle is also an important part of inquiry. Here are some of the choices students made regarding ways they can be more responsible. Students are learning to do inquiry in English, which is their second language. It is a challenge but it can be done!

Mind maps are added to the Inquiry cycle as well.

Displays

Displays are an integral part of students feeling welcome to the class the first few days of school. Particularly in Kindergarten many of the students are feeling anxious and even more so because the instructional language is different from their mother tongue.

One of my favorite books is"The Giving Tree". We started to put some of the students drawings of the first day of school on the display board.
Start of the year welcome displays.

Reading display with the help of the Gruffalo.

And Cat in the Hat!

Bilingual Wonderwall

Wonder walls are a great way to find out what your students are curious about.
